The Institute Building

Studio Nine was engaged in to document the repainting of the North Terrace Cultural Precinct Buildings. The first stage completed is the Institute Building.

The Institute Building was originally designed by Colonial Architect Edward Hamilton in 1858-1859 in Italianate style. ‘There is harmony of proportion and a classical stamp about the whole structure which entitles it to be regarded as an architectural gem’. – The Observer Newspaper, 28 July 1860.
