Studio Nine Architects are extremely proud to announce our recent certification as a carbon neutral studio.
Our commitment to changing the way our business operates and becoming carbon neutral directly aligns with our purpose statement – ‘designing a better future, for people, place and planet’.
The certification process began by measuring our greenhouse gas emissions to understand our baseline and define opportunities for reduction. To reach a carbon neutral state, any remaining unavoidable emissions will be offset by investing in projects that reduce or eliminate emissions from the environment.
Our studio took a collaborative approach in deciding which climate action project to support. The Biodiverse Reforestation Carbon Offsets, Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Corridor in Western Australia (pictured below) has been selected by the team as our preferred project to deliver carbon offset for the studio.
This initiative not only has significant climate benefits, it is also helping to deliver additional social and environment outcomes. It achieves this by restoring a native ecosystem, conserving habitat, providing employment and training opportunities and supporting local businesses.
Our certification renders us part of the select Climate Active network, alongside 24 other Australian architectural practices. Climate Active is Australia’s collective climate initiative, enabling individuals, government, groups and organisations to work together to help protect our planet by taking actionable steps to combat climate change. The carbon neutral certification is the most rigorous and credible carbon neutral certification available in Australia.
Change happens when we all play our part. By supporting certified organisations, products and services, we are taking positive climate action and contributing to a brighter and more sustainable planet for future generations.
