This project involved the significant restoration and redevelopment of a dilapidated heritage building in the heart of Adelaide’s East End

Originally a series of small, disconnected rooms spread over multiple floor levels, the structure was carefully stripped back and rebuilt to support new upper-level uses while retaining its original character.
At street level, a single-level retail tenancy was created to provide a more functional and flexible commercial offering. A new rear entry was introduced to improve accessibility and circulation. Above, the existing apartments were completely renovated, with one extended to increase living space and enhance amenity.
The project paid careful attention to the building’s heritage features, including the reinstatement of traditional lacework on the balconies and the restoration of architectural details in line with heritage grant requirements. The result is a carefully balanced blend of old and new — a technically complex build that now supports vibrant retail and residential use, and contributes positively to the streetscape.
