Building on a decade of work in Victoria, we have established a permanent base in Melbourne. While our Collingwood studio has been operating since mid-2024, this announcement reflects the evolution of our practice and a commitment to strengthening our presence nationally.
The opportunity came when Senior Architect Kanishk Meghani relocated to Melbourne last year – providing the catalyst to expand our footprint interstate. Since then, Kanishk has returned to our Adelaide studio, and over the past 18 months we have continued to build a strong Melbourne team, led by Senior Architect Andy Lim, Graduate of Architecture Dion Capone, and most recently, Design Technologies Lead Franz Hein.
Establishing a Melbourne studio enables us to better service our long-standing clients and their expanding portfolios of work. We are continuing to deliver affordable housing and hospitality projects across the state, with exciting new work underway including Kaya Health Club in Chadstone and the refurbishment of the iconic Adelphi Hotel.
Our commitment to digital connectivity ensures seamless collaboration between both studios and we continue to remain focused on delivering high-quality service to our clients. Melbourne marks the next step in a considered strategy for the practice.

Franz Hein
Joining the studio in the middle of the year, Franz brings over 30 years of global experience in architecture and construction technology, with senior roles at leading practices including Woods Bagot, Architectus, and Hayball. A specialist in BIM and design technology, he is dedicated to streamlining workflows, enhancing digital capabilities, and driving innovation to elevate our project outcomes and service model.
Andy Lim
Graduating from Monash University, Andy built his career as a Senior Project Lead at Rothelowman before joining S9. Coupled with his specialist multi-residential experience, Andy has demonstrated the level of local knowledge required to build a strong foundation for our Melbourne studio.
Dion Capone
Beginning his architectural career in our Adelaide studio, Dion moved to Melbourne last year and gained experience with local practices before rejoining S9 in our new studio. Now settling into the city, he is an aspiring graduate building his connections and engagement within the Melbourne architecture and design industry.
