A new specialist Oral Consulting and Deep IV Licensed Day Surgery fitout to accommodate the growth of the business
The fitout works included consulting and administration spaces, along with AS4187 Compliant Central Sterilisation Services Department (CSSD) spaces, designed to current facility guidelines.
In conjunction with the project team, S9 facilitated all the necessary approvals with SA Health, council and the client to facilitate complex fitout requirements for Day Surgery licensing and a change of building use from Class 5 office to Class 5 medical consult space.
In order to streamline SA Health approvals and input, the design looked holistically at the required patient and instrument work flows, integrating a new internal fitout and upgrading the building infrastructure to comply with current standards.
The project had many stakeholders and approval authorities who were consulted at key stages in order to streamline communication and implement a fast tracked program. An intense concept design and design development phase was undertaken to facilitate managing contractor engagement during the early phases, ensuring the client could meet contractual dates and mitigate shutdown to their business.
As a result of the condensed program, practical completion and the scheduled SA Health As-Built inspection were only one day apart, which required an extended and more intense communication and RFI response period with SA Health to collate all required commissioning, certification and antimicrobial reports. Working closely with the client and in direct communication with SA Health, we worked efficiently to close out all risks and requested information as quickly as possible in order to mitigate our clients costs and overheads of running two sites concurrently, whilst awaiting SA Health approval.
