The new $16M SAPN Seaford Depot expands South Australia Power Networks’ service capacity in the southern region, providing essential infrastructure to support the growing community

Designed for a greenfield site, the project draws on many of the design principles established at SAPN Angaston, with refinements informed by lessons learned and efficiencies gained through ongoing collaboration between Studio Nine Architects and SAPN.
Building on this strong working relationship, the Seaford depot benefits from consistency in communication, streamlined project reporting, and the redeployment of staff experienced on past projects.
Key design improvements include the substitution of hot dip galvanised exposed steel in place of painted steel — a change that reduces ongoing maintenance and ensures long-term durability.

In addition to the depot’s operational facilities, our team a also delivered the interior office fitout. The workplace includes open plan workspaces, meeting rooms of varied sizes, a dedicated boardroom, as well as a communal kitchen and bathrooms. This fitout provides a modern, functional environment that balances operational efficiency with staff comfort and collaboration.

Environmental initiatives were integral to the design. Extensive water-sensitive urban design has been incorporated, with high levels of rainwater catchment for irrigation, while roof-mounted photovoltaic cells maximise renewable energy generation. Landscaping has also been carefully considered to improve the streetscape and create a positive interface with the surrounding community.
