We are excited to officially welcome Melinda De Cianni to S9.
Melinda is an award-winning Interior Designer with a diverse level of experience across both global and small-scale studios. As a residential specialist, she has been recognised for her refined, minimalist designs that seamlessly blend the architecture and interior to elevate the user experience.
With the encouragement to change her career from a project leader into a more creative field, Melinda’s drive to push boundaries, with a love of puzzles and problem-solving led her to study Interior Design.
Through excelling in her studies, she received a scholarship for work experience at a well-renowned global architecture firm. This experience led to a 10-year career with the practice, working on large-scale commercial projects.
“It was a great start in the industry. I gained extensive experience ranging from big and small-scale projects and exposure to a lot of different elements of design, as well as an understanding of how a global company operates.”
After establishing herself in the industry she ventured out on her own starting a solo practice as she focused on raising her young children.
Through her professional relationships, she was later approached to join a boutique Adelaide firm, specialising in high-end residential projects.
With the drive to foster and push the interiors to align with the studio’s award-winning architectural designs, Melinda led the interior design on numerous projects focussing on functionality, longevity, cohesion between interior and exterior, and the use of natural materials.
“The key to a successful outcome in a residential project is the client relationship. My aim is to see the client’s brief resolved and evident in the final build. A well-designed home has the ability to shift the user’s mindset — you want people to feel good in their homes, as well as plan for future growth and change.”
Melinda’s projects have been recognised nationally, winning numerous SA Architecture Awards, a Houses Award, and shortlists in the National Australian Architecture and AIDA National Awards programs.
Ready for a new challenge and looking for project diversity Melinda joined S9.
“S9 portfolio is full of quality design projects and the diversity of these projects is what caught my attention. The Calyx Project and The Mill (formerly Mill Film Studio) are two projects that really stood out to me.”
Being a team-orientated individual, she is excited to share her passion and work closely with the ever-growing team here at S9.
“Our ability to create ideas from client relations, and see those ideas come to fruition in the built form, shifting one’s spatial experience is what drives me.”
We are delighted to have Melinda on board with us at S9 — welcome to the team.
