Awarded to MAB Corporation, the development will include a boutique hotel, integrated commercial and retail offering and an employment hub
The Brompton Gasworks Redevelopment masterplan is a strategic urban infill project of 5.8ha and will deliver over 800 new dwellings including over 15% affordable housing, 2,200 new residents and 1,100 day workers by 2035.
The masterplan has a high quality adaptive re-use of the retained heritage assets, 25% of the site area is dedicated to public space and will be a 100% renewable energy development.
The diverse mix of land uses includes low to medium density residential in the form of townhouses and apartments, hotel, commercial and hospitality and will be delivered by a wide range of local and interstate architects and designers.
MAB appointed Studio Nine Architects, after a limited design competition, to deliver their first townhouse typologies. The specific site lies directly opposite townhouses previously designed by us as part of the Bowden masterplan.
Our studio are working in collaboration with Enzo Caroscio Architecture (ECA) to develop a family of typologies which will set the benchmark for this emerging development.
Working closely with the sustainability advisor and wider consultant team, the townhouse typologies have developed to be bespoke to the target demographic and highly contextual in their response to location, orientation and aspect.
As the staging of the development evolves our involvement will continue as we progress to developing the medium density apartment buildings.
