After nearly 10 years as a Director and a career spanning almost four decades in the design industry, Mandy Goehr will step away from her role at Studio Nine Architects from January 2026.
In June 2024, Mandy announced her decision to step down as a Director and transition into a part-time role. Throughout that period, she continued to support the studio as a leader, mentor and designer with the same energy, positivity and passion she has always brought. Mandy was also appointed a Life Fellow of Studio Nine Architects, recognising her impact, legacy and contribution to the practice during her tenure as Director.
Importantly, as Mandy transitions into her next chapter, she will continue to be involved in the business as a consultant. This ongoing connection reflects both Mandy's commitment to the practice and our commitment to providing a seamless experience for clients and project teams.
As Mandy steps away from day-to-day studio life, we want to
sincerely thank her for the mark she has made, and the many relationships,
projects and people she has shaped along the way.
Thank you Mandy, for your lasting legacy, you will always remain part of Studio Nine Architects.
A message from Mandy
"For those of you who have been with us long enough to be part of my journey at S9, you’ll recall that back in 2024 I announced my intention to relinquish my Directorship and step aside.
That transition took place, with the idea that I would stay on for another six months. Well… eighteen months later, the succession plan has finally come to fruition. From January 2026, I will depart as an employee of S9.
Reaching this point is, without doubt, an adjustment. It’s no secret that I’m a glass-half-full person, and to me, positivity is key. This is the natural transition and the change I sought out to make for myself. There must be a point of departure, and it’s best to take that step when the weather is good. I'm excited about what’s on the other side and where the journey will take me.
Besides the consultancy I will continue to provide to the studio, I will be continuing to tutor Interior Architecture at university — something I began last year and absolutely love as a way of giving back. There will be travel, more time with family, and opportunities with friends.
